Ten weeks ago we took control of Southend Council – and we’re already making a difference. Here are ten things our administration is already delivering for Southend:
- £4.3mn for new council housing
- Put money in the budget for more street lights
- Better enforcement for dangerous parking around schools
- Introduced a Public Spaces Protection Order to combat anti-social behaviour – now extended to include Hamlet Court Road and Southchurch Gardens
- Better housing allocations policy including more help for the homeless
- Commitment to becoming a Living Wage Employer
- Changes for better social care leadership
- Halt to unnecessary tree felling
- Charges scrapped for blue badge holders and one-hour parking costs in town centre car parks reduced
- A new town centre investment partnership
