SOUTHEND LABOUR WELCOME TO THE SOUTHEND LABOUR GROUP WEBSITE
Cllr Martin Berry, St. Luke’s Ward
Martin was elected to the council by the residents of St. Luke’s Ward in May 2021 and has been a long-term local community campaigner. He has lived in Stromness Road since 1994 so knows the area and its issues well, but is always keen to hear from other residents about their concerns and their ideas to improve the area. In addition to his duties as a Councillor he works part time as a copy editor for a publishing company and since the death of his partner Kerry has devoted most of his other time to local community issues, particularly on housing, and is one of the organisers of the Fossett’s for The People campaign for the government to allow social housing to be built on the publicly-owned land opposite the proposed new football stadium.
Martin conducts regular drop-in no appointment needed surgeries at the Community Hub in Cluny Square on the second Thursday of every month from 9am to 10am and at the Labour Party office at 268 Sutton Road (almost opposite the Greyhound shops, by the corner of Byron Avenue) on the second Saturday of every month, 10am to 12 noon.
You can follow the St. Luke’s Labour Facebook page for local updates.
