Lockdown & Covid-19

Here at Southend Labour we know that local people are still worried about the effects of Covid-19 and how they will manage, even more so now that another lockdown is in force again.

We have a group of Labour members able to offer help and support to people across Southend who are self-isolating or finding it hard to manage. If you need help shopping for food, medicines, toiletries, baby items etc we have volunteers able to do those tasks and deliver to you for no charge apart from the cost of the shopping . If you live alone and are feeling lonely we can give you a call and have a chat. We have members who live in all parts of Southend.

When you ask us for help, we will pass on your name and what you need to one of our volunteers so that they can get in touch with you.

Local food banks and soup kitchens are likely to get low on supplies because people can’t always spare the donations they usually can and the closure of restaurants which donate food makes a difference too. If you are able to make any donations – items like pasta, long-life milk, tinned goods and toiletries – we can arrange to collect these from you to take to Southend’s food banks and emergency food providers so that people in desperate need can be helped.
