Labour’s Kevin Robinson, Cabinet Member for Business, Culture & Tourism, was interviewed on Radio Essex today (Friday 23rd August) discussing ideas for Southend High Street and the various challenges it’s facing. The interview is available to listen to on the Essex Radio website. Kevin’s radio interview about the seafront with BBC Essex last month is available by clicking here.

Public consultation
Kevin’s portfolio includes responsibility for the entire High Street area and, as part of the Sunrise project, Southend Council has been awarded a grant for the section from the top of the High Street to the stub end of London Road (the area around the Odeon cinema up to the Sainsbury’s mini-roundabout). The Sunrise project’s purpose is to facilitate and implement collaborative ways to address mobility issues and the grant must be used towards making the area more accessible and appealing, and to improve the space for everyone who visits. You can give the council your views on the options by completing the survey at this link.
