Labour candidate Julian Ware-Lane: 'People need a local representative who will put them first
Julian Ware-Lane has been selected as Labour’s candidate for the Southend West constituency to stand in this June’s general election.
A local councillor, Julian lives in Westcliff and currently represents Milton on the borough council.
Julian works for an Essex-based software company. He has a wealth of local community experience, having been involved in local sport for more than a quarter of a century. Julian has also been a schools governor, and has recently helped out one of the homeless winter night shelters. He is a well-known local campaigner across a range of issues.
Julian came second in Southend West in the 2015 General Election, and hopes to go one better this time.
Speaking after the selection, Julian said: “I was born in Westcliff, and still live here. It is my home. I am proud to be Labour’s candidate for June’s general election.
“This Tory government has overseen the biggest cuts to our public services in a generation. The NHS and social care is in crisis, our schools are struggling under the weight of the budget cuts and cuts to police budgets are putting our safety at risk.
“People here in Southend West need a local representative who will put them first. I will work tirelessly between now and June to let local people know that this general election will be a choice between a Labour Party that will stand up for the people of Southend West or a Conservative Party that only looks after the privileged few.”
Kevin Robinson, Secretary of Southend West Labour Party added:
“I welcome the appointment of Julian Ware-Lane as Labour’s Candidate for Southend West for June’s general election.
“As someone who lives locally, I know that if elected on the 8th June, he will put this area first and will be a committed and local MP – that’s what Southend West deserves.
“Over the coming weeks I will be joining Julian on the campaign trail and am looking forward to supporting him as Labour’s candidate.”
