Joseph Saunders – Labour’s Candidate for West Shoebury Ward
Joseph works for a security company, lives near the seafront and has been involved for some time in clean up days and community events. He has good links with the police and is keen to look at innovative and effective ways to reduce anti-social behaviour, and youth crime in particular.
Joseph says, “I care about this area and want to make it the best and safest area it can be for the people who live here and visit.
“I feel that the Tory government and council have cut back too much on social care for our older people, and for younger members of society the cuts to policy and youth budgets have had a massively detrimental impact in our town. I will work hard with others to find a way to bridge the gap in that funding.
If elected, I will work not just for the people of West Shoebury but for the people of Southend as a whole. In the almost 20 years I have lived here I have never seen such reductions to our services and the Tories’ policies nationally and locally are leading to higher rates of crime and anti-social behaviour that urgently need to be addressed.
Given the chance to run the council with a Labour majority, my colleagues and I can and will make a difference”.
