Kevin Ryan was born  and raised in Southend and  has  worked as a secondary school teacher here for the past 14 years. Prior to that Kevin worked in four other secondary schools across Essex.
From 2007, Kevin has been a member of SACRE a statutory education committee of the Local Authority. He was elected  Chair a year later and has been re-elected for the last 12 consecutive years. In 2013 he co-wrote the first ever RE Agreed Syllabus for Southend, used in all schools across the borough, and was subsequently asked to launch the revised version on behalf of the Council in 2018.
Kevin has  been the Local Negotiating Secretary of NASUWT, the UK’s largest teaching union, for the last 8 years representing Southend teaching staff at local and regional level. He was elected Chair of the Eastern Region Equalities sub-committee and has spoken up for Southend on Sea at national conferences and meetings of the NASUWT.
He is now  focusing his efforts on becoming your new Councillor for Shoeburyness in May. Kevin Ryan promises to work tirelessly to represent every one of his Shoebury residents.
Kevin worked voluntarily as a telephone helpline counsellor for a National Charity. His interests include  nature conservation, gardening, film and art and he is a devoted animal lover and environmentalist.
