Shahid Nadeem – Labour’s Candidate for Prittlewell
We are delighted to announce that Shahid Nadeem will be Labour’s candidate for Prittlewell ward in the Southend Council election on Thursday 6 May. Prittlewell Labour members selected Shahid as soon as the Government announced that local elections would go ahead in May.
Speaking in an online meeting, Shahid pledged: “I will be Prittlewell’s most accessible Councillor, listening to residents’ concerns and ensuring that your voices are heard. I will work hard for you all year round, not just at election time, to make sure that Prittlewell is a flourishing, welcoming and safe place to live and work. I have already been involved in the local campaign to protect our NHS services at Southend Hospital.”
Shahid firmly believes that Prittlewell deserves a Councillor who will address the issues that residents are facing here: cleanliness, potholes, parking, concerns about air and noise pollution and community safety. He is a lawyer by profession and moved from East London to Southend in 2013 with his wife and three children. His daughter attended Lancaster school; his eldest son is at Westcliff High and his youngest at Eastwood Academy. Shahid understands the diverse educational needs of these schools; he is committed to tackling inequality in education and will fight to improve education standards across the board.
He added, “The Labour-led administration has spent a year responding with urgency to support the local community during the Covid-19 pandemic whilst maintaining core services. Southend Labour is determined to get our local economy back up and running and continues to deliver the investment Southend needs.”
Shahid pledges: “Vote for me, and I will work with you and for you, identifying real improvements that the Council can make to our area. Together we will achieve what we set out to do.”
