Aston Line – Labour’s Candidate for Westborough Ward
It was the greatest honour of my life to stand as the Labour Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for my home Constituency of Southend West in the 2019 General Election. For the last couple of years I have also been privileged to represent Labour Party members in Chalkwell Ward, in our fight for the Council. In October 2020 I was selected by Party members to be their Candidate in Westborough Ward.
I was born and raised in Southend-on-Sea. I am a small business manager and an active community campaigner for causes including our NHS, the environment, and affordable housing. Southend is a beautiful place to live, but it is certainly not without its troubles. Here, we face high rates of burglary and drug-crime, perpetual problems with parking, and a population increasingly concerned by the growing threats to local NHS services.
Our Labour Councillors in Westborough have worked hard to ensure the area gets its fair share of resources. Cllr Charles Willis has moved away for work reasons and we need to replace him on the Council with another hard-working representative who understands local people and the needs of Westborough. I have close ties to the Ward, my family’s business is on West Road, I spent most of my teenage weekends working for my late father in Glenwood Avenue, and I have many relatives and friends living here. I will fight tirelessly for the needs of Westborough and I promise to be an unrelenting voice on Southend Council for residents right across the Borough.
A vote for me is a vote for a strong voice on the Council. I am already fighting to save our struggling NHS, fighting to invest in our schools, to end homelessness, to address crime and antisocial behaviour, and to make the vital local changes needed to tackle the global climate crisis.
