Mike Fieldhouse is the Labour Party's candidate for Prittlewell in the 2016 Southend Borough Council Elections.
I live in Westcliff with my wife and two young children, the eldest of whom is in her second year at St. Mary’s Prittlewell C of E Primary school, with her brother destined to follow when he’s old enough.
The local community and the well-being of the people within it matter a great deal to me. As our society increasingly seems to isolate people, I believe it is more important now, than ever, to listen to people and understand what the problems are that they face. I plan to be very visible, and available, in and around Prittlewell for residents to tell me their thoughts and concerns regarding local issues.
In recent years I have volunteered in Southend’s Night Shelter Project, helping to provide a hot meal and a bed for the night to rough sleepers and the homeless during the winter months. I am also a qualified counsellor and work with a specialist charity providing support to victims of rape and survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
I am naturally drawn to the Labour Party - a party that wants to listen to, and help people like you, and in doing so create a better and fairer Southend.
