Working hard for you
Former councillor and Labour candidate for St Lukes Ward in this year's local elections, Mike Royston, has launched a campaign to get a much needed Sunday bus service introduced for ward residents.
Mike Royston said, "Many residents in the Cluny Square, Royston Avenue and Sutton Road area use the popular 29 bus service that is run by Arriva. However, the service is only provided Monday to Saturday, without any 29 bus service between the town centre and St Lukes ward on a Sunday.
This 29 bus service is a social lifeline for many St Lukes ward residents. The introduction of a Sunday service would be a great boon for those who live in this area.
My petition is also asking for an extension to the times that the 29 bus service runs in the evenings.”
On weekdays, the last bus from the Travel Centre to St Lukes ward departs at 7.25pm, and on Saturdays, the last bus from the Travel Centre to St Lukes ward departs at 6.25pm.
The petition can be signed online here or by writing to Mike at 268 Sutton Road, Southend on Sea. SS2 5ET
