Having grown up in Sussex, I moved to Southend 6 years ago for work and absolutely love living here; especially the friendliness of the local community. I would be a strong voice for Blenheim, standing up for residents to a Conservative council that has become complacent and taken residents for granted for too long.
As a local teacher for the past six years in Essex I am passionate about ensuring our young people achieve the best start in life. I am currently Director of English and Maths at Seevic College, which involves making sure learners from across the area are given the English and Maths skills they need to prepare them for the world of work.
I am standing in this election as I know only Labour has a plan to put our young people first, including investing in local schools, continuing to fund Sure Start centres and abolishing extortionate tuition fees which saddle our young people with £50,000 in debt before they start work. Contrast this with the Conservatives, who have no answers on education (or indeed much else) on either a national or local level. I look forward to meeting as many residents as possible during the campaign and hearing your concerns and thoughts on the local area.
