Greg Keane - Labour Candidate for Shoeburyness

I work as a senior charge nurse at Southend Hospital Accident & Emergency Department. I see first-hand the pressure on the NHS, and how the policies of the Conservative government are damaging patient care. If elected as a councillor I can use my experience in the NHS to effectively press for improvements in local health services. Labour councillors supported council budget amendments that would have seen public investment going into health centres - the Tories voted against.

Going around Shoeburyness I can see that crime, and recent incidents of violent crime in particular, are a massive concern. Police resources in Shoeburyness are simply not enough to deal with the problems we experience. We cannot let the Tories who are responsible for cutting more than 700 Police Officers in Essex get away with it. Southend Council cannot replace the Police cut by the Conservatives, but Labour Councillors have a plan for a new enforcement service which will be a visible reassurance and deterrent, whilst dealing with the low-level anti-social behaviour that the Police are not able to deal with.

If you elect me as your councillor I will stay in touch with local residents and hold regular advice surgeries, as Labour Councillors in other parts of Southend already do.
