Background:

Martin was elected to the Council in 2021 and has been a local community campaigner for many years. He has lived in Stromness Road since 1994 so knows the area and its issues well, but is always keen to hear from other residents about their concerns and their ideas for improvements.

Martin conducts regular drop-in advice surgeries and is always available to speak to or meet residents wherever they wish.

Martin says, “I was honoured to be elected at the by-election in May 2021 and have worked very hard since to bring improvements to the area, including road and pavement repairs; junction safety; increased street sweeping in litter ‘hotspots’ and increased police patrols. I ‘walk the ward’ every day and report issues I come across and have conversations with residents at every opportunity.”

“St. Luke’s Ward had been ignored by the Council for far too long and previous Councillors hadn’t spoken up for it. Since being elected, I’ve given people here a proper voice on the Council, speaking on the issues that matter locally. I’ve also helped a very large number of people with their individual problems. I’ve achieved a decent amount in less than two years – a good start, but I can achieve a lot more if I’m elected for a full term and hope that you will vote for me so I can do that.”
