Labour Party members have chosen 26 year old doctor Chris McGurk to contest Leigh ward in local council election on 7th May 2015.
"I am delighted to have been chosen by the Labour Party to fight this ward. Leigh is a wonderful part of the borough to live and work in, but people are understandably concerned about how that might change in these difficult times. I look forward to speaking to residents about how best to protect the services they rely upon, and campaigning to make Leigh the best place that it can be."
Julian Ware-Lane, Labour's parliamentary candidate for Southend West, said,
"Chris is a passionate and dedicated young man, with a wealth of real world experience in the health service. He would make an excellent representative for the people of Leigh, and a strong, positive alternative to the Lib Dems who have let them and the rest of the country down."
