Working hard for you
Former St Lukes ward councillor and Labour candidate in next year's local elections, Mike Royston, has launched a campaign for the Council to install pedestrian crossings at the Royston Avenue roundabout, at the junction with East Street and Sutton Road.
Mike Royston said, "Local residents find it very difficult and hazardous to cross East Street by the roundabout. This junction is constantly busy with traffic which covers several lanes, and pedestrians have to take their life in their hands when they cross the road here. Equally hazardous, is where residents need to cross Sutton Road, just round the corner from this spot, in order to get to local shops, where there is a blind spot for pedestrians and drivers due to a bend in the road. Pedestrians are at great risk when they cross the road at both locations and crossings are urgently needed.
Local residents have expressed their deep concern, particularly for the many older residents who live in the vicinity and children who need to cross these roads on their way to school.'
