Anne Jones selected as Labour Party candidate for St. Luke’s Ward
Southend Labour have today (19 August) announced that Anne Jones will be the party’s candidate for St Luke’s ward at the next council elections. Anne was selected by a vote of local members two weeks ago. This means that it’s Anne vs. Anna in St Luke’s because Anne will be fighting Anna Waite, the controversial Conservative cabinet member and former Council Leader. According to Shelter's figures, a family living in a two bedroom house in Southend will lose £49.49 every month under the Conservative-Lib Dem scheme, whilst those living in a one bedroom house will lose £19.78 per month. Councillor Gilbert says that...
